Reporting to the Director, User Enablement & Cyber Security, the IT training Specialist will be responsible for delivering hands on training, content creation, platform / vendor management, and orchestrating companywide training planning exercises specific to technology usage.

The candidate should have a passion for making technology easier to use and understand, and thrive on helping people learn, be productive, and build skills.

Note : This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What you’ll do

Technology Training Governance and Standardization

  • Works with the BTS Director, User Enablement and Security and other relevant stakeholders to establish and maintain standardized technology-related training methodologies, practices, and governance.
  • Works with the Service Desk Lead in creating and maintaining an IT / Technology Training onboarding process.
  • Works with Service Desk Lead and the Microsoft 365 Team in creating and delivering onboarding to new SharePoint Site and Teams Owners.

Learning Needs Analysis and Business Process Analysis

  • Conducts stakeholder impact analysis’, including assessing current state, and develops a training / learning plan to move employees / users to desired future state.
  • Works with business leads and SMEs to develop future state business process maps as a part of a broader learning strategy.
  • Implements analytics into all our learning programs and strategies.

Designing and Delivering Technology Training, with an Emphasis on Microsoft 365 and Cyber Security Programs

  • Responds to IT training requests by completing learning needs analysis, requirements gathering, and providing recommendations on training solutions.
  • Consults with functional SMEs to build business process comprehension and assist with creating and delivering training assets.

This includes : Training materials (job aids, manuals) E-Learning videos Process Maps Podcasts or other audio assets Other assets and technologies as required.

  • Pitches, organizes, and coordinates technology-related vendor training.
  • Works with Service Desk to determine content areas and applications that require end-user training and plan for training development and delivery.
  • Facilitates IT related training as required.
  • Be a Microsoft Office master and be prepared to provide Office Suite training as requested by business and in collaboration with our Microsoft 365 team.
  • Collaborates with our Cyber Security team and assist with developing and delivering Cyber Security related training. This may include : Developing annual cybersecurity training curriculum Administering and tracking training results and providing reports to the Director, Cyber Security, and the Global IT Team.

Assisting with developing ad-hoc cybersecurity training across Seaspan.

Training Planning and BTS Project Support

  • Assists BTS Leaders in any training programs related to Systems implementation projects. This could include : User training matrix and capacity planning Working with SME’s to identify and build out course content Creating a global training schedule Coordinating training logistics Coaching project / business leads to help develop them as trainers.
  • Assists with post go-live user support.
  • Assists in stakeholder impact presentations and broader communication as required.
  • Assists with IT-related change management activities including communication, stakeholder engagement, and training.
  • Provides broad project support for initiatives. This could include drafting up project charters, preparing business technology proposals, partnering with our BSA’s to document requirements, creating and maintaining project and change management plans, and regularly updating our global IT project tracker.

Analyze and Assess Training Effectiveness

  • Be able to collect and leverage analytics for a wide variety of training requirements, and training effectiveness (scatter plots, cluster diagrams, heat maps .
  • Evaluates training effectiveness and provide lessons learned.

Manage and be an expert on Learning Tools, Technologies, and Applications

  • Be an expert on learning technologies / tools utilized at Seaspan and provide recommendations to sites on which tools to use.
  • Understands AI and Machine Learning, and how it can be leveraged for end-user learning.
  • Manages the administration of our IT Learning Systems.
  • Stays up to date on new training technologies and provide recommendations on new and innovative ways to train.
  • Manages Training Vendor / Service Provider relationships.

What you’ll bring

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or similar education required.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Office.
  • Additional Training and Development certifications or further education considered an asset (., Post-Graduate Certificates, Diplomas, .
  • At least five (5) years of work experience in training and learning needs assessments in the space of technology.
  • A minimum of two (2) years working for complex, matrix organizations.
  • Experience working in a similar industry is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience working on systems implementation projects in a training capacity.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training in the Cyber Security space.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

  • Fluent in e-learning tools (Synthesia, Vyond, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate and Premiere Pro .
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Advanced knowledge of eLearning software and on-line training tools.
  • Experience at training typical business processes as part of IT Training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong motivational and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and under own direction and initiative.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and skills quickly.

The estimated salary for this position is $110,000 - $130,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.

The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
