PURPOSE and SCOPE
This position assists the Sr. Disability Management Specialist with the administration of Workers Compensation Board (WCB), short term disability and long term disability claims by communicating with the appropriate parties.
Helps to develop wellness initiatives related to health and wellness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position;
- Provide information to the ill / injured employee and their supervisor / manager regarding the medical leave and return-to-work process
- Help submit forms and information to public and private insurance companies with respect to disability claims
- Enter relative data into HRIS systems as it relates to leave and disability.
- Maintain confidential case records
- Assist with Health and Wellness initiatives, which may include such items as Safe Lifting, Ergonomics, Wellness, etc.
- Follow and adhere to developed processes and procedures.
- Provide coverage for team members in times of absence, as appropriate with skill level
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Post secondary education in Disability Management and / or Human Resources Management Certification (CHRP) an asset.
- Three to four years previous experience in Human Resources and / or Disability Management.
- Current enrolment in certified NIDMAR program (CRTWC, CDMP) or willingness to enroll in such program.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Workers Compensation, Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, and other legislation as it relates to disability management.
- Ability to liaise with benefit carriers.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to protect the confidentiality / privacy of others with the highest confidence, as well as company documents and records is imperative.
- Working knowledge of software products such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, etc. required.
