Reporting to the Electronics Manager, and under the direction of the Lead Electronics Technician, the Electronics Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of equipment.
This role will also provide technical support to the Maintenance, Manufacturing, Operations, and Technical Services departments.
This position is considered a safety-sensitive position .
Job Responsibilities
Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with our scheduled maintenance program.
Ensure equipment is field ready as quickly and safely as possible. Provide support to Operations to the best of your ability to keep equipment operational.
- Provide support and feedback to Manufacturing, Design, Parts, and the rest of Maintenance regarding maintenance, preventative maintenance, system failures, part defects, human errors, safety hazard identification, or anything else that would improve our equipment or procedures.
- Repair and maintain low-voltage electronic and power distribution systems on all equipment (cement slurry pumping trucks, water trucks, vac trucks, tractors, pickup trucks, trailers, p-tanks, spreaders, other infrastructure equipment, and more).
- Aid in new product development, commissioning, and continued efforts to improve existing designs. Analyze operational issues and recommend solutions to improve reliability and durability.
- Follow all safety standards and protocols including always wearing necessary PPE.
- Identify and document all observed hazards and provide solutions to resolve hazards to create a safer workplace.
- Ensure all safety tickets, driver’s license, and any other required certification are in good standing, including site-specific orientations, H2S certificate, and First Aid Level-C certification.
- Participate in the on-call rotation schedule.
- Participate in training and development activities.
- Travel between corporate or customer locations performing repairs and maintenance.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications - Required
- Physically capable of moving / lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
- Driver’s license (non-graduated) with a clean driver’s abstract / record.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Able and willing to frequently travel out of town, work overtime, overnight and on weekends.
- Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.
Qualifications - Looking For
- Enrolled in or completed a related post-secondary education or equivalent (Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Electrician trade) with some related experience.
- Experience in an industrial setting with a working understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical systems / components (including programmable logic controllers, HMI screens, computers, engine and hydraulic controls, radios, switches, relays, breakers / fuses, greasers, electric-hydraulic valves and solenoids, batteries, lighting, heaters, and electronic tracking devices) .
- Proficiency reading and interpreting drawings and schematics.
- Experience with electrical integration of motor vehicle components.
- Electrical systems integration experience.
- Knowledge of applicable standard.
- Superior problem-solving skills and be able to work under pressure.
Qualifications - Assets
- Oilfield equipment maintenance experience with industrial electronics / electrical systems.
- PLC and HMI installation, programming, and design experience.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems.
- Experience with motors, pumps, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with diesel engines and engine diagnostics.
- Valid class 3 or 1 (Canada) / class A CDL (U.S.) driver’s license.
- Able to work with high degree of independence and collaboration.
- Dependable and adaptable to changing priorities.
