Job Brief :

The Field Safety Coordinator is responsible for the occupational HSE-related activities for designated operational areas. The Coordinator ensures HSE risks are managed according to company policies and industry best practices, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The Field Safety Coordinator works closely with all operational staff, leads and management. The candidate should have experience within the oil and gas industry, a proven track record, and commitment to achieving all HSE and company objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Coordinates with HSE Manager and HSE team to ensure effective use of best practices and consistency in approach to HSE responsibilities.
  • Promotes a risk-based approach to HSE management utilizing company policies, standards, and processes for all operational activities.
  • Provides HSE support, coaching, and training at all levels including promoting company’s commitment to 24 / 7 safety culture for all workers.
  • Plans and participates in HSE audits / reviews of operations and related assigned areas to ensure proper implementation and compliance.
  • Supports the implementation and achievement of HSE objectives and performance measures during all drilling operational activities.
  • Leads initiatives to promote visible and proactive management commitment and employee engagement in HSE activities.
  • Reviews existing HSE training plans and specific training needs, provide training, as appropriate, and / or facilitate visiting specialist trainers.
  • Ensures compliance with system for collecting, storing, analyzing, tracking, and reporting HSE performance data (i.e., incident report findings, audit actions, and related HSE metrics).
  • Participates and audits job-planning activities, including field level hazard assessments, Job Safety Assessments (JSA), and hazard recognition.
  • Participates in risk management and HSE activities including risk assessments, audits, HSE meetings, and onsite work activities.
  • Prepares and assists with presentation of monthly safety meetings, prepare presentations.
  • Participates / complies with company safety programs & company policies.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills / Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma.
  • NCSO minimum standard designation, with preference to CRSP.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Standard First Aid / CPR with AED; H2S Alive, CSO, and CSTS.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and background check.
  • Experience with WorkSafe BC, Work Safe Alberta and WCB AB / BC.
  • Experience with data managements systems.
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance safe working practices, including in electrical & instrumentation fields and / or oil and gas industry.
  • Good understanding of hazard identification and mitigation.
  • Knowledge of standard statistical techniques, procedures, and research methods.
  • Proactive and self-motivated approach to working with the ability to provide independent solutions that overcome operating and other constraints.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrated flexibility in responding to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Organized, analytical, with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills : ability to work with all levels of employees, management, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel as required.
