Reportingto the Design Team Lead, the Junior Graphic Designer will provide graphicdesign assistance across a range of digital and print media to support NAIT'sstrategic marketing and communications plans.
The successful candidate must beadept at executing production-ready artwork, from big box ads to billboards andeverything in between.
Asa Junior Designer, assigned tasks will be largely production-based, with supportiveopportunities to learn and grow along the way.
You must be proficient at usingindustry-standard software to adapt and reformat artwork for social, web andout-of-home advertising.
On the creative side, you will have opportunities todevelop your own design work, from mood boarding and concept stages toexecuting final artwork.
Tobe successful in this role, you must work well independently but enjoycollaborating and learning from others. As a member of the design team, youwill attend weekly virtual meetings with the rest of the designers andcontribute to brainstorming.
Working closely with the Design Team Lead, youmust be comfortable receiving feedback and creative direction. As a member ofthe larger MarComm department, you will have opportunities to work cross-functionallywith other in-house teams, including photo, video, web, marketing andcommunications.
Whilethis position is fully remote, you may be required to occasionally travel tocampus to attend photoshoots and in-person meetings.
KeyResponsibilities :
- Attend weekly virtual meetings with a team of 4 othergraphic designers
- Collaborate openly with others in the department,which may include brainstorming and mood boarding processes
- Assist the design team with resizing and adaptingcampaign artwork to meet various specs and formats
- Create compelling design treatments that align with theproject’s objectives and NAIT's brand guidelines
- Prepare final files for print and digital output
- Organize and archive design files in our DAM (DigitalAsset Management platform)
- Help evolve the NAIT brand and update its brandguidelines
Skills& Abilities :
- Proficient using the Adobe Creative Suite (specificallyIllustrator, InDesign and Photoshop) on a Mac platform
- Understanding of design principles, such ascomposition, color theory and typography, and have a portfolio thatdemonstrates it
- Strong organizational and time management skills, tomeet deadlines and navigate competing priorities
- Open to brainstorming, collaborating and sharing newideas with others
- Strong communication skills, particularly when sharingdesign concepts and rationales
- Comfortable receiving and interpreting design feedbackfrom project stakeholders
- Passionate about graphic design, and staying on-top ofemerging technologies and design trends
- Any skills in illustration, motion graphics and html5ad development would be considered an asset
Qualifications :
- Strong portfolio that demonstrates expertise in graphicdesign, including print and digital design
- 1-5 years working in a graphic design role
- Degree or diploma in graphic design
- Equivalencies may be considered

Remuneration : $49,161.84- $69,092.14 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification -Technologist II).
Thisposition is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)Collective Agreement.
