Fire Fighter - temporary full time term

DEFINITION :

Under the general direction of the Fire Chief or designate, the Firefighter is responsible for performing firefighting, rescue, medical response, and related emergency services as part of an integrated fire‑rescue team. The Firefighter participates in the daily operation, readiness, and maintenance of fire department apparatus, equipment, and facilities to ensure effective emergency response capability.

The position functions as a member of IAFF Local 2685 and provides skilled, professional service in accordance with departmental policies, operational guidelines, training standards, and applicable legislation. The Firefighter performs hands‑on emergency response and station duties, maintains operational proficiency, and ensures adherence to all safety, regulatory, and collective agreement requirements while working collaboratively with other firefighters, officers, and allied agencies.

DUTIES :

• Perform fire suppression;
• Perform rescue / hazardous material response;
• Auto extrication;
• Provide emergency medical care;
• Assist with public fire education and fire prevention programs;
• Undertake fire inspection activities;
• Perform other duties as assigned by shift or chief officer

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Career or Volunteer firefighting experience;

The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment screening including criminal record check, driver's abstract, medical clearance, and skills / fitness testing consistent with departmental standards.
