Responsibilities
- Able to read / understand construction plans
- Operate heavy equipment at construction sites in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
- Clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by AFL policies and procedures
- Perform pre-shift inspections, change attachments, lubricate, and refill equipment while performing other site duties as assigned
- Report any mechanical or safety problems with the equipment in accordance with company procedures
- Proactively communicate with foreman, superintendent and coworkers
- Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation as required
- Heavy equipment operated at AFL include, but are not limited to, backhoes, track-hoe, skid steers, etc.
- Perform other site duties or functions, consistent with status or vocational ability as may be required from time to time
- Ensure a safe work environment for our people, clients, subcontractors, and the public
- Represent AFL to the public in a manner that is consistent with corporate values and goals
- Lead by example
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

1+ year of construction experienceExperience in Utility Construction – ASSETAbility to understand and work with Utility locatesCapable of working in all temperatures and climates and in confined spacesAbility to travel to various site-based projects if requiredProficiency in driving with a loaded trailer is an assetWorking Conditions
