RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.
Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

Position summary
Dr. Ferri’s Laboratory is a translational research lab and part of the Thoracic Surgery and Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Laboratories (http : / / thoracicsurgery.
lab.mcgill.ca) at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). We are seeking a highly motivated experienced research assistant in esophageal / gastric cancer research.
General Duties
The incumbent will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will be involved in several projects : (1) collection, processing and archiving of human tissue and blood samples from consenting participants for downstream genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics assays, (2) collection of data and existing archival samples and maintenance of databases for samples, (3) derivation and maintenance of human-derived organoid model systems, (3) optimization and performance of experiments to assess response to therapy in models of esophageal and gastric cancers.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Participate in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments,
- Perform experimental manipulations, including optimization and development of procedures,
- Record results, perform calculations and compile data,
- Maintain records, files and databases,
- Train students and post-doctoral fellows in lab techniques,
- Use a variety of equipment appropriate to assigned tasks,
- Assist with preparation of reports and manuscripts,
- Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data,
- Review and become familiar with relevant literature,
- Assist with laboratory management,
- Accomplish any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor,
- Ability to work flexible hours at short notice.

Education : Master's Degree
Field of Study : Biology, Experimental Medicine, Immunology or related field.
Work Experience : at least 2 years

Additional information
Status : Temporary Occasional
Pay Scale : $48,503.00 - $90,090.00 Commensurate with education & work experience
Work Shift : Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
Work Site : Montreal General Hospital
