Location : Mississauga, ON.

The department of Safety Engineering at CANDU Energy is engaged in the deterministic and probabilistic fire assessments in support of new CANDU Nuclear Power Plants as well as supporting the operation and safety of the existing domestic and international CANDU plants.

The junior safety analyst will work under senior staff to develop and apply advanced analysis methodologies to address client / project concerns regarding safety and licensing for plant support, refurbishment and new build.

These include issues related to fire hazard assessment (FHA), fire probabilistic safety assessment (PSA), fire safe shutdown analysis (FSSA) and fire code compliance review (CCR).

The candidates are expected to acquire basic technical skills through on-the-job-training, and be ready to take on various technical tasks within a short period of time, this includes but not limited to : -

Your role within the team :

• Service projects from inception through to delivery in support of fire safety standards.
• Support the delivery of project work within time and cost budgets.
• Keep up to date with regulations and legislation.
• Support the development of fire strategies.
• Carry out site visits.
• Assess fire related risks in projects and working collaboratively to mitigate where possible.
• Review and comment on the fire assessments.
• Full commitment to working in a formal QA environment.
