Job Description

Purpose:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of maintenance employees and maintaining equipment in good working order to ensure production requirements can be met.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in designing, planning, locating, negotiating and purchasing of new equipment for plant expansion
• Provide leadership for equipment installation and secure resources to achieve rated speeds and safe operation within specified timelines
• Ensure the building, machinery, and services (electricity, steam, ammonia etc.) conform with and are maintained to legislative requirements
• Design, coordinates and implement modifications required to fine tune production process.
• Compile/maintain operation statistics/reports for the department
• Analyze machinery down time/utilization and implement solutions to ensure that equipment operates at rated efficiencies
• Ensure that all personnel within the department are trained in safety standards and these standards are being monitored
• Act as primary point of contact and key resource person to meet with equipment suppliers in bringing latest improvements to the company
• Manage a team of maintenance staff (including millwrights, electricians, technicians, maintenance helpers) to carry out day to day maintenance work
• Provide direction to undertake preventive and predictive maintenance
• All employees are responsible for food and safety quality
• All employees are responsible to report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action

Primary Interactions:

• Production staff, salaried employees, suppliers

Qualifications

Competencies:

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in high volume manufacturing positions
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience supervising people in manufacturing operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to provide quality customer service
• Proficiency in relevant computer applications, e.g. Word, Excel, MS project, and MS Power Point
• Detail oriented
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to effectively interact with persons at all levels of the organization
• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to lead and manage projects to completion

Education and Experience:

• Mechanical Engineer with a of minimum 3 years’ experience in food processing plants
• Millwright and/or Electrician red seal ticket is an advantage.
• Class 4 Boiler Ticket is an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits:

• $80,000-$100,000 / year (commensurate with experience and location).
