Our client is seeking social workers with experience in the Mental Health and Addiction Services. The candidate will be working with diverse youths, adults, and families and will therefore need to be inclusive-minded’ to break the barrier surrounding language, gender identity, sexual orientation, accessibility, or other grounds as they mount up.

Locations : Charlottetown and Summerside
Work Hours : 75hours bi-weekly with Rotating shifts between 8 and 12 hours; Weekends as required
Duties may include :
- Plan and conduct a thorough assessment of clients, including assessing of level of risk;
- Establish rapport with clients;
- Identify and understand the different types of crisis ranging from situational to psychiatric emergencies and formulate a provisional diagnosis hypothesis, utilizing the DSM IV;
- Utilize extensive knowledge of crisis intervention theory and treatment modalities to stabilize the client and to provide early and brief treatments to clients presenting to Mobile Mental Health Services, ensuring safety for clients and others;
- Establish next steps and follow-up plan;
- Act as a liaison with other mental health professionals;
- Maintain confidential records and case reporting;
- Other related duties.
Key Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in social work or Bachelor’s degree in social work supplemented by considerable experience in the mental health field.
- 1+ experience in Social Work
- Must be eligible for registration with the P.E.I Social Work Registration Board.
- Must have a good previous work and attendance record.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Other qualifications :
- Related experience in a mental health setting.
- Demonstrated individual and family therapy skills.
- Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant Federal and Provincial Act and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM) IV.
- Additional relevant education and experience would be considered an asset.
