Overview:

Rugby Canada delivers high-performance programming across a range of national teams, from senior to age-grade, in both Fifteens and Sevens rugby. We are looking to expand our network of qualified and passionate Athletic Therapists and Physiotherapists to support our teams during domestic and international training camps, tours, and competitions.

In particular, we are looking to build and strengthen our therapist network in Victoria/Langford, BC, where many of our national team programs are based. This is an opportunity to contribute to athlete health and performance in a high-performance, team-oriented environment.

We are also committed to building a broader practitioner network and providing meaningful professional development and engagement opportunities to those interested in supporting our programswhether currently working with Rugby Canada or looking to contribute from within their existing roles and locations.

Expression of Interest:

Rugby Canada is seeking Expressions of Interest from qualified Athletic Therapists and Physiotherapists who are interested in delivering services at future training camps, tours, and/or competitions in one or more of the following capacities:

• Internship/Placement
• Paid Contractor

Responsibilities:

• Maintain regular communication with Rugby Canadas Lead Therapist and/or relevant performance leads throughout the duration of the contract.
• Complete medical intake and exit forms for athletes at the beginning and end of each team assembly.
• Monitor the physical health and readiness of athletes, with a focus on injury prevention, management, and rehabilitation during camps, training blocks, or tours.
• Provide comprehensive field coverage, including pre-training taping, soft tissue treatment, and immediate care during sessions or matches.
• Collaborate effectively with fellow therapists, physicians, strength and conditioning staff, sport science practitioners, and coaching staff to ensure integrated athlete care.
• Communicate daily with coaching and performance staff on athlete health status, modifications, and return-to-play timelines.
• Maintain detailed and confidential treatment records and injury logs in accordance with professional standards.
• Coordinate and initiate insurance processes in the event of injury, with support from team management.
• Develop and share individualized treatment or rehabilitation plans to guide continued care post-assembly.
• When applicable, support remote monitoring of athletes between assemblies.

Requirements:

• First Responder, BLS or Equivalent
• Certified Athletic Therapist in good standing with CATA OR Licensed Physiotherapist in good standing with your Provincial College, minimum Sport Certificate, preference to those with Sport Diploma.
• Experience working with high-performance athletes
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and personal integrity

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience working with the sport of Rugby or contact sports
• World Rugby ICIR Level 2 Certification
• CSCS or equivalent strength and conditioning Certification
• Knowledge of data management and good data organizational skills
• Experience with GPS and force plate data capture and understanding its role Return to Play
• Ability to provide Acupuncture treatment
