About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the program manager and the supervision of an occupational therapist (OT), the occupational therapy assistant completes therapeutic and technical support duties in the delivery of occupational therapy services to Nova Scotia Health clients both independently and collaboratively with health care team members and students.

The occupational therapy assistant is responsible to adhere to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following :

  • Graduated from a recognized community college occupational assistant program including three hundred hours minimum of clinical experience.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the uses and sources of commercially available assistive devices and equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to operation and maintain variety of appliances and power equipment
  • Previous experience working with Geriatric populations an asset.
  • Previous experience working with Frailty and Dementia an asset.
  • Previous experience working with patients / clients with physical and / or cognitive impairments an asset.
  • Previous experience with wheelchair fitting and modifications an asset.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Permanent, Part-time (50%) position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$22.84 - $25.95 Hourly
