Overview
The Opportunity : As part of WSP, you will have access to a network of resources, expertise, and opportunities to collaborate on exciting projects with diverse teammates. We are looking for an Intermediate Hydrogeologist with a specialization in groundwater modelling to join our Ontario Hydrogeology Team, located in one of our GTA offices (Toronto / Mississauga / Cambridge / St Catharines / Barrie). You will provide numerical modelling support for various hydrogeological, environmental, and engineering investigations related to multi-disciplinary development projects.
What you’ll do
- Work with interdisciplinary project teams on highly complex work to push your skills to the next level with some of the best in the industry.
- Support the development and implementation of numerical groundwater flow models for a wide range of projects, including :
- Large-scale open-pit and underground mining operations
- Regional and local scale hydrogeological assessments
- Municipal source water protection studies
- Dewatering assessments for infrastructure projects
- Compile field and other data for interpretation and analysis
- Collaborate with intermediate and senior hydrogeologists to provide technical services for mining and infrastructure projects
- Provide technical support and complete hydrogeological analysis, visualizations, and aid in developing conceptual site models
- Work independently and in a team under the direction of senior specialists
- Prepare technical documents and reports
- Assist more senior staff with project proposals
- Seek substantial opportunities for technical development and career growth with a flexible work schedule and senior mentorship
- Maintain a strong Safety First focus and follow health and safety procedures
- Participate in water-related projects as needed
What you’ll bring to WSP
A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Hydrogeology, Environmental / Earth Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or similar; a specialization in groundwater modelling is preferred5–10 years of job experience and registration as either a Geoscientist or Engineer in OntarioExperience with hydrogeological analysis using tools such as AQTESOLV or similarExperience in development and application of numerical modelling tools / approaches in groundwaterExperience with MODFLOW, FEFLOW, HydroGeoSphere, etc.Experience using Python and SQL for data analysisUnrestricted full Class G Driver’s License (Ontario) with a clean driver’s abstract and access to a vehicleStrong computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Excellent time management, organizational, communication, problem-solving, writing, and people skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team playerAbility to learn new systems and skills independentlyInterest in working for a leading environmental consulting firm and contributing to a growing and thriving teamAbout Us
