Coulson Aviation is a global aerial firefighting company that operates in Canada, the USA, Australia, and Chile. We produce, maintain and operate a fleet of large aerial firefighting aircraft consisting of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
With our fleet, we can run rapid aerial fire suppression, including initial attack and extended attack protocols. We are a growing organization that has been in business for 63 years.
Due to our company growth and expanding footprint, we are looking to add a Hangar Manager in Port Alberni, BC.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR :
The Hangar Manager reports to the DOM / PRM and VP of Structures. The Hangar Manager directs and supports hangar staff to ensure the hangar is equipped, organized and ready to receive / execute aircraft visits.
This position will also ensure parts are received and issued correctly, tool kits are maintained and organized and help establish new hires with training and company procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Hangar Manager focuses on 2 key areas :
Hangar Facility
- Plan for and manage materials, tools, and support equipment as required by tasks
- Ensure all documentation and reports are generated, completed, and distributed within appropriate timelines
- Ensure inventory checks are completed both pre-project and post-project
- Ensure parts are issued accurately against the work orders
- Work with Supply Chain to ensure parts requirements are met
- Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and processes
- Ensure proper management of technical documentation & maintenance controls
- Ensure adherence to security requirements in support of Inventory Controls
- Ensure completion of all aircraft departure procedures is completed
- Identify, investigate, and apply corrective actions to problematic issues with hangar processes
- Help create & maintain staff schedule
- Ensure proper housekeeping
Staff Management
- Participate in selection process for new hangar support staff
- Review and approve timesheets
- Delegation of monthly, weekly and daily tasks
- Provide and delegate on-the-job training
- Ensure all mandatory training requirements are being met
- Performance Management

- Conflict resolution
- Direct Supervision of Hangar Support staff
Assists the DOM / PRM and Structures Manager with any other tasks or projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS :
- 5 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance / hangar environment
- Prior management / supervisory experience
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license
- Valid Passport and ability to travel
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of Transport Canada regulations
- Basic computer knowledge and understanding of aviation-based software
- Ability to operate forklift and equipment pertinent to aviation support
- Knowledge of aircraft towing and fueling
- Experience and control of aircraft tooling including various GSE
- Ability to complete tasks with little direction
- Self-driven, motivated with strong problem-solving abilities
- Works well independently or as part of a team
