Under the guidance of the Human Resources Manager and the Director of Talent, the HR Advisor provides a broad range of HR services focused largely on managing the end-to-end recruitment process while also providing HR advisory support on a range of employee-related matters.
Th HR advisor will serve as a key point of contract for managers and employees, ensuring that HR policies and practices align with the organizations goals and values.
Duties include, but are not limited to :
Oversee the approval-to-hire process by ensuring requests to hire, transfer, or promote have been routed through management and senior executives for review and approval
Work with hiring managers to determine staffing needs, craft job fair descriptions, and ads
Develop and update job descriptions and specifications
Work with marketing and advertising to coordinate and create ads for posting
Post positions and oversee updates to Brandt’s information on recruitment websites and various other media
Work with third party recruiting agencies and foreign recruiters to fill positions
Support branches in organizing / participating in career fairs
Oversee the screening of applicants by reviewing resumes, assessing applicant suitability, conducting preliminary screening interviews, and routing resumes to hiring managers
Following up on interview processes status
Maintain relationships with both internal and external clients to ensure staffing goals are met
As required, set up and participate in interviews
Create offer letters for new hires and route for executive and management approval as required
Work with hiring managers to extend offers of employment
Work with Payroll to ensure new, transferred, and promoted employees are properly set up in Brandt’s systems
Support the new hire, employment changes, and terminations process by processing and distributing documentation as required
Stay current on the company’s organizational structure, personnel policy, and laws regarding employment practices
Advise and assist departmental managers on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs and best practices;
as well as organizational matters such as, discipline, harassment, discrimination etc. and assist in the investigation and reporting of these matters
Provide coaching on complex Human Resources issues and manage risk to the organization
Answer manager / supervisor questions and provide advice regarding employment issues and interpretation of legislation.
Provide day-to-day advice on compensation and support the annual compensation review process.
Manage the exit interview process, including conducting interviews, tracking, and communicating results
Adhere to legislation as it relates to labor standards, human rights, health & safety etc.
Remain current with HR best practices, legislative changes, and industry standards
Maintain positive working relationships with employees and the management team
Report and monitor key metrics, such as turnover and retention rates
Knowledge and understanding of the collective bargaining process
Documenting & managing documents related to collective agreement interpretation and administration
Conduct pre-negotiation research, on-going in-scope labour market comparisons and manage the comparison data

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar position
University degree with a focus on Human Resources or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience
Ability to work in team environment as well as self-driven
Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills
High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and / or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office
Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with departmental managers as well as employees
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
CPHR considered an asset
