Pastry Sous Chef – Groupe Compass Quebec ltée.
Job Summary : You will be responsible for running the pastry operations by creating, planning and supervising daily production of top-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
Location : Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
Salary Range : $60,000 to $65,000
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the daily production of all pastries, desserts, and baked goods, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency are consistently met.
- Ensure recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled, and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs.
- Maintain accurate records and logs, including production, consumption, waste, cleaning, and temperature logs.
- Enforce proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures.
- Monitor and control the maintenance and sanitation of the kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets / exceeds federal, provincial and corporate standards and regulations.
- Act as Manager for all hourly associates within the kitchen, including training, coaching, and participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate.
- Lead station operations for all meal periods, ensuring flawless service and full menu execution.
- Help plan and implement seasonal menus.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, baker or in a relevant role.Experience supervising culinary teams, preferably in a large-volume environment.Valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.Great attention to detail, creativity, and strong organizational skills.Strong leadership and communication abilities.In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques, and nutrition.Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (e.g., gluten‑free, sugar‑less pastries).Certificate in culinary arts, pastry arts, baking or in a relevant field.Compass Group Canada is committed to nurturing a diverse workforce representative of the communities within which we operate.
