Job descriptionOdours Dusty On-site customer service Commercial Industrial Institutional Residential Rural area Urban area Various locations Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding Prepare flooring plans and scheduling Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors Prepare tenders and quotations Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings Prepare and install hardwood floors Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations Estimate costs and materials Prepare floors for installations Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants Install carpeting on walls or other surfaces Employ knee kickers and other equipment to stretch carpeting Perform direct glue-down carpet installations Perform double-bond carpet installations Install outdoor carpets Install resilient stair components (special effects for the visually impaired) Install materials on counter tops and raised platforms Install vinyl decking materials Hardwood strip flooring Borders or feature strips Flash covings Hardwood intricate patterns flooring Parquet flooring Linoleum Rubber sheet goods Modular carpet tiles Flexible PVC sheet goods Asphalt plank flooring Cork flooring Carpets / rugs Driver's validity licence check Valid driver's licence Vehicle supplied by employer Physically demanding Handling heavy loads Bending, crouching, kneeling Ability to distinguish between colours Hand-eye co-ordination Tools Safety equipment / gear Steel-toed safety boots Hard hat Gloves Mask Client focus Efficient interpersonal skills Judgement Organized Team player
