Job Description
We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technologist for our Resources sector. You will be a key resource in terms of knowledge regarding piping standards and specifications in the framework of various mining, industrial and oil and gas projects.
You will also be required to work on projects in other disciplines. Flexibility is a significant asset in the industrial design team.
This is a hybrid position with the requirement of travel to the Labrador City office for site visits. The ideal candidate can sit anywhere in the Atlantic provinces.
Primary responsibilities
- Perform the design and modelling of piping and mechanical equipment based on standards and specifications, in a 3D digital environment (point cloud)
- Produce 2D drawings and 3D models
- Prepare piping system drawings
- Generate isometric drawings using design software
- Verify 3D models and ensure quality thereof
- Ensure multidisciplinary coordination with the industrial team and other professionals assigned to the project
- Participate in technical audits, surveys and on-site work supervision (occasionally)
Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology Program from an accredited College or institution.
- Preferably a minimum of five years of piping design experience in the mining industry.
- Ability to design a 3D piping system, while focusing on safety, constructability, serviceability, and industry best practices.
- Experience in plant implementation and optimization (brownfield / greenfield).
- Advanced practical knowledge of Plant 3D and AutoCAD software.
- Knowledge of Navisworks, Bluebeam, SOLIDWORKS and / or Inventor software is beneficial.
