What do Pre-Board Screening Officers do?

You will be using your exceptional customer service skills to uphold the safety of passengers and create a positive travel experience by :

• Efficiently screening passengers and baggage through airport security checkpoints
• Providing information professionally and with integrity
• Confirming valid boarding passes
• Scanning and testing baggage for prohibited items using X-ray machines, metal detectors and other technology, along with physical search techniques
• Protecting restricted areas
• Managing conflict
• Communicating clearly and effectively
• Upholding all regulations with vigilance

You will receive paid training at $22.33 / hour , increasing to $25.34 / hour after the successful completion of training and full certification. You’ll also receive comprehensive benefits and a great uniform!

What You Bring :

This position is based at the Comox Valley Airport (YQQ). Travel within BC may be required for the initial training. Travel, accommodation, and an allowance will be provided.

If you are successful in the application process, you will be required to apply for a Transport Security Clearance (TSC), which requires an extensive background check. Once obtained, you will be eligible to begin the Screening Officer Foundations (SOF) course, which must be successfully passed prior to beginning work as a Pre-Board Screening Officer.
