Overview
Work setting : Installation, Maintenance, Repair, Telecommunications, Testing, Service. Work site : Outdoors, at heights. Tasks include inspecting, testing, repairing cable signals, performing reports, climbing poles and working aloft, connecting / disconnecting cable outlets, splicing and joining wires, assembling fibre‑optic and coaxial cables.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment.
- Repair cable signals.
- Complete and maintain test and service reports.
- Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures.
- Connect, disconnect and relocate cable outlets.
- Splice, join and connect wires.
- Assemble fibre‑optic and coaxial cables.
Qualifications
Education : College, CEGEP, or other non‑university certificate or diploma (1‑2 years).Experience : 3 to less than 5 years in network cabling or a related field.Computer & technology knowledge : Telecommunication systems.Equipment experience : Coaxial line, fibre optics, copper, aerial and underground cable lines, cable outlets.Transportation : Valid driver’s licence, willing to travel.Physical requirements : Attention to detail, repetitive tasks, colour discrimination, ability to sit / stand / walk, physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling; manual dexterity.Tools & safety : Own tools, safety equipment (steel‑toed boots, hard hat, safety glasses / goggles, harness).Personal qualities : Flexibility, judgement, organized, reliable, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, team player.Benefits
