POSITION summary
Reporting to the Director of Health, Wellness & Accessibility, the incumbent supports both administrative activities and health care services for students and staff in the Brockville and Cornwall Campus Health Centres.
The incumbent is administratively responsible for supporting physician scheduling within the clinical health record, and maintaining medical records, filing systems and information to facilitate the retrieval and processing of confidential client information / documentation.
The incumbent is also responsible for the provision of administrative services as they apply to the daily activities, emergencies that arise, and assist with the coordination of relevant clinics (i.
e., influenza vaccinations, placement immunizations, etc.) as needed and ensuring supply chain needs are met for operations.
Clinically, the incumbent is responsible for following established standards and practices, while adhering to professional, ethical, and legislative obligations within their scope.
The incumbent will support the physicians in the provision of health care by performing health assessments, health promotion, prevention, and treatment of appropriate students and staff to the Campus Health Centres.
The incumbent supports the provision of health services in a physician supported clinic (e.g. episodic injuries and illness, immunizations, health counselling), emergencies that arise (e.
g., first aid, injuries, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), crisis support), and the maintenance of the confidential health record system.
Qualifications
Education and Experience :
A minimum of a Registered Practical Nurse diploma (RPN) from an accredited School of Nursing. Current registration as an RPN, holding a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
Mental Health training or certification if current First Aid and CPR level C with automated external defibrillator (AED) certification.
Completion of an education program for immunization competencies (EPIC).
A minimum of two-years of current and progressive experience in nursing, including mental health experience, occupational health, or emergency nursing, skilled in areas of assessment, triaging, and treatment procedures.
Other Required Qualifications :
- Strong organizational, self-management and communication skills.
- Skill in venipuncture.
- Current knowledge of immunization requirements.
- Competency in computer-based programs (word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, email).
- Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to relate professionally to students.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and in a self-directed manner.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency / urgent situations.
- Ability to maintain the safety and wellbeing of clients using Campus Health Services through compliance with all regulatory bodies and legislation applicable to nursing practice and the provision of health care.
- Ability to assist with daily clinic operations such as phone calls, emails, student payments and any front-line walk-in student questions / concerns.
Physical / Work Environment Essential Requirements :
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.
Salary & Terms
- Support Group : Pay Band H
- Start Rate : $36.29 / hour, plus 8% in lieu of vacation
