Position Overview
We are seeking a hands‑on Controller to manage and guide our accounting function, including a team of 3 to 4 professionals. This high‑impact role requires strong leadership, a strategic mindset, and experience in complex, international financial environments. The ideal candidate will bring Canadian tax knowledge , multi‑currency proficiency , and a deep understanding of import / export operations . Proficiency in SAP Business One is essential.
Objectives of this Role
- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing accounting team of 3–4 staff
- Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior leadership through analysis and reporting of key data points
- Support strategic decision‑making in collaboration with the VP of Finance and Operations
- Guide and maintain robust financial controls and reporting standards across international operations
- Improve budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes to support scalable growth
- Oversee Canadian tax compliance and international financial transactions
- Optimize SAP Business One for reporting, accuracy, and efficiency
- Develop and maintain sales and operational performance analysis
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee general ledger, accounts receivable / payable, payroll, and financial reporting systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and international regulationsMonitor and report on financial health, performance trends, and variances against budgetImplement and enforce internal controls that protect company assets and promote accuracy and integrityLead tax planning and compliance activities, with a focus on Canadian corporate taxEnsure accuracy in multi‑currency accounting and foreign exchange processesCoordinate import / export finance activities involving cross‑border transactionsDevelop benchmarks and KPIs for operations and financial goals; report performance monthly, quarterly, and annuallyManage credit controls and accounts receivable aging with strategic oversightCollaborate cross‑functionally to support manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics from a financial perspectiveRequired Skills and Qualifications
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership roleProven experience in international operations including import / export logistics and multi‑currency accountingAdvanced knowledge of Canadian tax laws and financial reporting requirementsStrong analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking skillsExcellent leadership and interpersonal abilitiesProficient in SAP Business One and Microsoft Office SuiteExperience in manufacturing, production, or warehouse distribution environmentsDetail‑oriented with a commitment to process improvement and operational excellencePreferred Attributes
Experience optimizing financial systems and ERP integrationsFamiliarity with international banking practices and letters of creditAbility to lead change in a growing and fast‑paced companySeniority Level
