Our Nuclear Services office in Oshawa, ON is looking for a Electrical Design Engineer to join our team.
Summary of the Role
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the preparation of design documentation, and provides technical reviews of designs, as well as all Design Engineer duties as outlined in the E.S. Fox Limited Quality Assurance manuals.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain direct contact with Project Supervision, Q.A. and facility management where required.Understand all aspects of a project budget and liaise with the facility and project management teams on all associated costs.Fully understand the project scope and address issues with the owner on all matters related to scope and design specifications.Ensure that the company adheres to the contract documents.Ensure that design report has been prepared, verified, approved, and reconciled with the modified documents and final drawing as required.Ensure verification of design output documents produced by Design Engineer of the vendor.May subcontract stress analysis or complete design of all or a portion of the code item(s) to approved vendor of design services from AVL.Select and review design methods, materials, parts, equipment, and processes that are essential to the function of the structure, system, or component.Actively work with all ESFL Quality Assurance standards and related procedures.Ensure that design analyses have been planned, controlled and the results are documented in the design report.Where design change is significant (affects form, fit, function, or design specification), review changes and impact on original designs.Ensure the design report and other design output documents are reconciled to incorporate such a change in modified documents used for construction from those used in the design analysis.Ensure responsibilities and accountabilities are conducted in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited Environmental Health and Safety Program and OHSA requirements.Ensure that environmental aspects within the sphere of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO requirements.Generate Engineering estimates as requested by Area / Division or as per Manager’s instructions.Preparation of 2D drawings and 3D models.Preparation of the design packages.Preparation of Field Run packages.Technical reviews of design packages.Provide Design Service Provider Oversight.Prepare supporting calculations as required.Preparation of commissioning procedures.Knowledge of Engineering Change Control procedures.Prepare Requirements Traceability matrix (RTM).Prepare and monitor Issue Tracking File (ITF).Prepare and maintain design plans.Ensure project adherence to schedule.Serve as a Design Team Lead in the engineering department.Coordinate drawing changes with the drafting department.Coordinate package submissions with the document control department.Prepare Commissioning reports.Key Requirements, Experience And Skills
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or similar program).Practicing Professional Engineer designation, and in good standing, would be an additional asset.3-5 years of electrical design experience.Demonstrated Code knowledge CSA C22.1, and Ontario Electrical Code.Strong understanding of Electrical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.Ability to manage and work on multiple projects.Attributes
