We provide a breadth of exceptional training services delivered by subject matter experts who are also training professionals.

Corporate Training Services at Durham College is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic individual to join our Corporate Training Services team as a National Automotive Service Trainer.

Preference will be given to those fluent in both French and English. The location is based out of Whitby, ON, but Canadian travel will be required.

Reporting to the Account Manager GM Projects, the Trainer works collaboratively with team members in the research, design and development of training materials for dealership Service Advisors and Service Managers that meet the needs and expectations of adult learners.

Using various learning aides, the Trainer delivers high-quality training sessions to raise the level of service product and process knowledge of the GM Canada dealer personnel.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates the diverse culture of the client audience
  • Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage participants in the learning process
  • Delivering engaging corporate training programs using presentation software and hands-on demonstration equipment for live and virtual sessions
  • Developing training scripts for presentations on various GM Canada passenger cars and light trucks
  • Working independently and demonstrating initiative
  • Communicating effectively with participants, clients and the program team Travel across Canada on an on-going basis

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A minimum of five years General Motors Dealership Service Department experience or related experience in an automotive environment.
  • Training experience for corporate clients with demonstrated highly effective presentation skills for live and virtual deliveries.
  • Experience in the development of training materials.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (both PC and MAC), Keynote, and Pages.
  • Extensive knowledge of General Motors vehicles and the competition.
  • Knowledge of current and ongoing developments within the Canadian car and light duty truck market including technological advancements and EVs.
  • Holds a valid G Driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated above-average verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly effective presentation skills
  • Bilingual in spoken and written English and French.
  • Diploma or Certificate in adult education is an asset
