The role : We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Team Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the detailed design of our systems.

You will work in multi-disciplinary teams while being trained and mentored by senior leaders.

To excel in this role, you must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and a creative problem solver.

Mechanical Engineers at Saltworks make a positive contribution by : Translating process designs into code-compliant, fabrication-ready mechanical systems using SolidWorks, while ensuring mechanical integrity and adherence to relevant codes.

Participating in collaborative design sessions with multi-disciplinary teams to meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements while identifying risks and opportunities.

Preparing accurate fabrication drawings using GD&T, and maintaining both internal and external engineering documentation.

Supporting Production by delivering clear, build-ready documentation and assisting with on-site or shop floor troubleshooting when needed.

Maintaining and improving the CAD database and design standards.

Taking full ownership of the physical integrity and performance of assigned designs.

You will be a great fit if you have : A degree in Mechanical or Integrated Engineering.  1-3 years of relevant post-graduation work experience.

Registration as an EIT through EGBC or another Canadian engineering regulator.

Proficiency in SolidWorks, including routing, large assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, drawings, and PDM systems.

Familiarity with industrial plant design, including P&IDs and concurrent engineering practices.

Experience using PLM (e.g., Aras Innovator) and ERP systems.

Knowledge of applicable piping codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, BPVC, CSA B51-14).  Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Experience designing structural frames and / or high-pressure stainless steel piping systems (an asset).

Knowledge of design for assembly and LEAN methodologies (preferred).

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to contribute to hands-on work when required.

Willingness to travel occasionally to sites within North America as needed.
