Experience and Role Accountabilities
Minimum Requirements :
- At least 4 years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
- University graduate in applied science or engineering.
- Must be a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or eligible for registration.
Engineering Solutions and Design :
- Develop safe engineering solutions using initiative and judgment on low to medium complexity assignments.
- Analyze and resolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, and recommend changes in plans and estimated costs.
Project Management Support :
Assist in meeting safety, cost, quality, and time objectives by performing activities such as preparing progress reports, coordinating work schedules, and managing contractor payments.
Engineering Practice :
Conduct independent studies and analyses, make decisions related to standard methods and designs, and maintain engineering standards.
On-Site Quality Control :
Perform periodic on-site construction quality control to ensure design compliance.
Collaboration with Senior Engineers :
Engage with senior engineering team members to address complex or unusual engineering problems.

- Candidates must have their own or their firm’s Permit to Practice with EGBC.

Technical Skills and Software Proficiency
- Familiarity with : CAD systems, industry design / analysis software.
- Software Skills : Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Language Skills : Intermediate English skills for a professional environment (written and spoken).
SCADA-Specific Experience and Responsibilities
SCADA Systems Design and Configuration :
- Experience in designing, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting SCADA systems in electrical utility substations with operating voltages from 12kV to 500kV.
- Expertise in GE RTU products (e.g., GE D400, D20, D200, D25, IBOX), Ethernet networks, DNP3 protocol, Modbus Plus® protocol, and related test equipment and software.
Project Documentation and Engineering Deliverables :
- Prepare project documentation like evaluation reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis, calculations, hazard logs, and test plans.
- Prepare signed and sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record (PoR) in accordance with EGBC and Design Practices.
Technical Assistance and Field Support :
Provide construction support in the field, undertake field reviews, and provide training for end-users and peers.
SCADA Design Packages and Configuration :
- Prepare detailed SCADA design packages, including device point assignments and configurations.
- Configure / program RTUs, gateway devices, network switches / routers, and other IEDs related to the SCADA systems.
- Specify and procure materials, panel assemblies, and related equipment.
Testing and Validation :
- Test and validate device configurations in a lab environment.
- Prepare and execute pre-commissioning test plans for SCADA systems.
This role is ideal for an experienced SCADA Engineer with a strong background in electrical utility systems, SCADA design, and field support, who meets the technical and regulatory requirements specified.
