Loewen has an opportunity for a Co-op Student who is either in a Mechanical / Structural Engineering Technologist program to join us for the summer at our manufacturing facility in Steinbach, MB. As a Product Development – Co-op Student , you will assist in the development of new products from initial concept thru to manufactured, tested and certified products. Support current product changes and sustainment.

• With direction from Design Leader and / or Senior Designers, creation of design / engineering documentation to support product introductions and / or revisions as follows :
• Create / update design drawings and specifications.
• Create / update Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Create 3D printed parts, as required.
• Create / update certification testing information packages, as required.
• Assist in gathering and compiling product data for regulatory purposes.
• Apply a design for manufacturing thinking on design solutions developed.
• Take part in and provide feedback at Design review meetings.
• Support PDM, ME and Manufacturing during product related implementations.
• Assist Lab Technician with test unit bucking, testing and root cause analysis as needed.
• Confirm Design effectiveness with involvement in prototyping and testing as needed.
• Follow documented ECN process for all product changes.
• Effectively communicate with internal customers.
• Take part in product idea generation as required.
• Continuous Improvement - continually look for and implement ways to eliminate all types of waste – example process waste.
• As needed - provide support with other team member projects to ensure department goals are successfully met.
• Assist in creation of testing reports and documentation as needed.
