Job descriptionVarious locations Load and unload goods Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment Pay and receive payments for goods Perform brake adjustments Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle Perform preventive maintenance Receive and relay information to central dispatch Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo AZ class license Bill of lading Driver logbook Local Long-haul Provincial / territorial Short-haul Criminal record check Handling heavy loads Up to 23 kg (50 lbs) Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and / or refugees Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and / or refugees (for example : facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.) Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and / or refugees Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth Offers mentorship, coaching and / or networking opportunities for youth Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans Applies hiring policies that discourage age discrimination Offers phased retirement options that allow mature workers to gradually reduce their workload (for example : flexible or reduced work hours, part time employment, project-based or seasonal work, etc.)
