The Field Technical Service Representative is responsible for performing on-site installation, upgrades, calibration and configuration, as well as preventive maintenance and repairs as per Medtronic SOP’s and manuals.
A Day in the Life
- Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment.
- Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and / or field locations.
- Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time.
- Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change.
- Maintains effective customer communications and relations.
- May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.
- Responsible for reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR)
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time.
- Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change.
- Maintains effective customer communications and relations.
- May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.
- Performs installation, calibration, configuration, upgrades, preventive maintenance and repairs as per Medtronic internal procedures.
- Responsible to understand and follow corporate and functional business unit procedures as well as technical guidance documents.
- Provides technical / scientific advice to customers and sales personnel responding to product related questions, issues and problems.
- Manage company assets including spare parts inventory, test equipment, computers and vehicle.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports.
- Complete department specific reports via on-line reporting system.
- Travel, as required, to meet obligations relative to business and customer requests for service.
- Provide after-hours service / support, where required.
- Complete all assigned training on time.
- Manage expenses, submit expense reports on timely manner and adhere to corporate expense policy. Must Have : Minimum Requirements
KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION
May require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience.
JOB EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
- Must possess and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license.
- Bilingual (French & English) required in Quebec.
- Strong time management skills and work ethic.
Nice to Have
KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION
- Biomedical Technologist Diploma or Electronics Diploma from a recognized Community College.
- Or Engineering Degree from recognized University. JOB EXPERIENCE

- Work experience within hospital operating rooms.
- General knowledge of electrical and mechanical concepts.
- Analytical / problem solving skills / experience.
- Knowledge of Health Canada regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize computer and telephone efficiently.
- Bilingual (French & English)
- Robotics experience an asset
