Sinai Health is looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) to join our Microbiology Department.
About the Department of Microbiology :
A collaborative laboratory operation between Mount Sinai Hospital and the University Health Network (UHN), The Department of Microbiology is recognized locally and nationally as a leader in microbiology.
As a team driven by innovation, we are able to offer the full range of high quality microbiology services, from routine cultures and susceptibility testing to molecular diagnostic testing.
New assays are continually being developed by our medical and scientific staff in response to clinical and research needs.
We are a prime reference center for both hospital and private sector laboratories. We offer state-of-the-art diagnostic services, methods development, research, and education.
In this role you will :
- Perform laboratory procedures in all areas of microbiology
- Accession patient samples and performing laboratory tests for serology and molecular diagnostics
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
- Ensure completion of assigned work
- Prepare accurate reports; participate in educational, safety, and quality improvement programs; observe and following hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Job Requirements
Job Requirements : Mandatory
Mandatory
- Current General (active practicing) registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
- Recent (within 5 years) experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
Preferred
- 1 year recent experience in microbiology
- Experience in microbiology industry sterility testing
- Proficiency in the use of Laboratory Information System
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office(Word, Excel)
Skills and Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of theory, methodology needed to perform duties primarily in microbiology, serology and molecular diagnostics
- Thorough knowledge of sterility testing including theory, methodology and good manufacturing practices
- Effective organizational, time management and prioritization skills
- Exhibit thorough knowledge of theory, methodology needed to perform duties primarily in microbiology, serology and molecular diagnostics
- Ability to work independently, cooperatively and communicate appropriately well with other staff
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Must be computer literate
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
