Chemical Blender
In partnership with our client, Stirling Chemicals, ZoomHR is conducting a search for a Chemical Blender / Plant Worker to join their dynamic and growing organization! Stirling Chemicals is a manufacturer of a variety of surfactant chemistries and we are looking for an energetic, high achiever to join the team which is focused on modernizing the company and steering it into the years ahead.
Stirling Chemicals is located in the south end of Brampton, less than a kilometer from the 407 and 2 kilometers from the 410.
We are looking for someone to join the plant floor team.
This role has a wide basket of potential responsibilities that will vary with experience, ability, and what our customers are looking for at different points in time.
- The goal over time would be for the candidate to progress and grow to the point of being capable of taking on any of the following responsibilities;
- Complete production batches as per detailed instructions
- Assist other team members to complete production batches as per detailed instructions
- Review daily production schedule in advance to ensure the raw materials and packaging required are available
- Review batch instruction sheets to ensure equipment is prepared for the required batch(es)
- Retrieve materials from the warehouse using a forklift
- Assemble and operate various types of pumps with hoses and connectors for the various types of raw material packages
- Where required, work in concert with lab staff for interim and final quality control testing
- Follow standard procedures for off-loading bulk trucks in a timely and safe manner
- Follow standard procedures for packaging both bulk raw materials as well as finished products into totes, drums or pails
- Complete accurate documentation for any and all work completed.
- Demonstrate flexibility in completing duties throughout the plant which would include working with and / or assisting other plant team workers
- Ability to work in a manner at all times that is safe to both oneself as well as the other members of the team
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to used basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, fractions, percentages and decimals
- Ability to use a Windows computer with a word processor (eg. Word) and a spreadsheet (eg. Excel)
- Ability to read, write and converse in fully fluent English
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift / carry 30 kg / 66 lbs
- Preferred qualifications;
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
- Current Forklift operator qualifications
- Inherent problem solving skills
