Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician – FINCA
The Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician (FINCA) at Finning is responsible for the tear down, inspection, and rebuilding of major components on Caterpillar equipment. The position is based out of the Finning Regina branch, operating on a 7x7 12‑hour shift schedule, and reports directly to the Service Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Tear down, inspect for reusability, and rebuild all types of Cat major components including transmissions, torques, differentials, final drives, brakes, and various others.
- Tear down, inspect, and rebuild all types of Cat engines, including the 3500 series.
- Work with the Supervisor on various tasks.
- Provide support with reference to on‑site safety requirements.
- Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Complete technical documentation such as service reports, warranty, and crossover notes.
Qualifications
Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification.Heavy Duty Technician, Truck and Transport, Ag or automotive technicians with experience.Apprentice mechanics considered for this posting.Safety‑conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and high attention to detail.Understanding of the Caterpillar product line and machines as assets.Engine and / or component rebuilding experience or equivalent mechanical experience.Transmission or hydraulic testing experience considered an asset.Engine dynamometer testing experience considered an asset.Previous gas engine and power generation experience considered an asset.General computer proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.EEO Statement
