Job Summary
Astro Hill is looking for a full‑time Operations Manager based in Iqaluit, NU. Reporting directly to the Director of Property Management, this is a hands‑on role responsible for leading building operations, maintenance, and facilities teams across Astro Hill’s residential and commercial properties. The role oversees a team of approximately 16 employees, ensuring efficient day‑to‑day performance, safety, and quality service delivery.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily building operations, maintenance, and repair activities across multiple properties.
Lead, mentor, and support a team of trades and maintenance staff to ensure consistent performance.
Conduct regular property and mechanical system inspections to identify issues and implement proactive solutions.
Manage boiler, glycol heating, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operation.
Coordinate and prioritize maintenance schedules, service requests, and preventive maintenance programs.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Support capital projects and renovations by coordinating contractors and suppliers.
Monitor budgets, inventory, and resource allocation to maintain operational efficiency.
Liaise with tenants and other departments to resolve maintenance and operational concerns promptly.
Lead by example to foster a safe, efficient, and accountable work culture.
Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to after‑hours emergencies as required.
About You
To qualify, you will need a Class 3 Power Engineering Certificate or a Journeyperson HVAC Certificate and a minimum of 6 years of experience in property, building, or facilities operations.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued :
Strong technical knowledge of boiler plants, plumbing, or glycol‑heated systems.
Proven ability to manage maintenance operations and coordinate renovations or capital projects.
Experience monitoring and managing departmental budgets, work orders, and preventive maintenance schedules.
Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems in residential or commercial settings.
