Intent of the process

A qualified pool of candidates will be established to staff positions across Canada. ESSENTIAL EDUCATION (EEd)

EEd1 : Successful graduation from a post-secondary educational program in Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Information Management (IM) or other specialization relevant to the position to be staffed.

The screening board will accept, at a minimum, graduation from a two year post-secondary program.

Employees in the CS occupational group at the CFIA who do not possess the education level prescribed above are deemed to meet the education requirement based on their education, training and experience.

Note to Public Service Employees outside of the CFIA :

Employees in the CS occupational group on May 10, , who do not possess the education level prescribed above are deemed to meet the education requirement based on their education, training and experience.

Applicants submitting education credentials from a non-Canadian institution are responsible for obtaining certification that these credentials are the equivalent of the Canadian education level required for the position.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE (EE)

EE1 : Minimum six months experience as an IM / IT professional, providing technical services in at least one of the following areas :

a)Application Development

b)IT Desktop Support or Help Desk Support

c)IT Service Management

d)Database Development or Database Administration

e)IT Security

f)IT Quality Assurance Services

g)Lifecycle Management Services

h)Information Management

EE2 : Experience providing IM / IT advice or guidance to customers, managers or clients.

English essential, French essential, English or French essential, Bilingual imperative BBB / BBB).

Official languages proficiency will not be assessed for entry to the pool. Candidates entered in the pool will have an opportunity for assessment of their official languages proficiency if and when they are considered for an appointment.

For acting appointments and assignments, the candidate may not be required to meet the language requirements of the position.
