Position Overview :
As the Senior Director of Platform Engineering, you will be a key driver in the development and execution of our platform's backend strategy.
You'll lead backend engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure the delivery of a high-performance, scalable, and user-friendly API and data exchange platform.
This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact and set the direction for our platform's backend development.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and nurture a Community of Practice for backend developers, fostering knowledge-sharing and skill development.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and front-end engineers to define and refine the platform's backend requirements and architecture.
- Drive collaboration on architectural decisions and technical strategies aligned with long-term platform goals.
- Architect, design, and develop robust, maintainable, and scalable RESTful API and data exchange solutions using the latest technologies and best practices.
- Implement secure, reliable, and scalable APIs to deliver an exceptional client experience.
- Set coding standards, conduct code reviews, and maintain code quality to uphold engineering excellence.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in performance optimization, security, and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the platform's stability and reliability.
- Lead by example, contributing hands-on development work alongside your team.
- Stay current with emerging backend technologies and industry trends and evaluate their applicability to our platform.
Qualifications :
- Proven experience as a backend engineer with a strong track record of leading and mentoring teams.
- Experience managing other developers, demonstrating leadership and team management skills.
- Extensive experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
- Strong understanding of API security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Node.js, Java, or similar API development.
- Experience with build tools, package managers, and version control systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality code.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies and their consumption of REST API is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred but not required.
