Our client is a mid sized Tier 1 supplier of stamped and formed and welded assemblies to the major automotive companies in Canada and the USA.
They seek a Maintenance Leader / Manager with a strong background in automotive Tier One metal forming and machine tool production of stamping and forming dies for automotive body and chassis .
Maintenance Management responsibility for several buildings and production facilities within Windsor.
You are an accomplished Maintenance Leader. You are an avid advocate of continuous improvement methodologies and have a passion for excellence in all manufacturing and business initiatives.
We also welcome 'rising star' Maintenance Leader candidates from world class stamping, hydroforming, hot stamping or Tool and Die Building facilities.
You will bring a passionate, high level of energy to this position as well as an exceptional track record in the advanced automotive metal forming industry.

this role should be seen as a stepping stone to higher levels inside or outside of this particular group. Will work daily from Windsor Headquarters.
Must be free to travel occasionally to the US to support sister production facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- As Department Leader, establishes and drives overall department vision and direction
- In cooperation with Senior Management and support departments, establishes, disseminates and manages departmental KPI's in the pillars of : Safety, Quality, Timing, Cost and Motivation
- Participates in personnel requirements planning, overtime scheduling for experienced multi trades crews working on 2 shifts
- Co-ordinates preventative maintenance of CNC equipment and presses with tool room / maintenance team members. and production planner
- Assists in the development of procedures that improve quality / productivity
- Assists in development of new / improved methods relating to newly innovated stamping operations
- Ensures that the building, building infrastructure, building services, production and production support equipment are in good / safe working condition
- Works closely with production and tool room departments to minimize machine downtime by identifying root cause, ensuring timeliness of repair operation, coordinating necessary support departments, and following up on corrective actions to avoid future breakdowns.
Inspects operating equipment and environment of the working area and maintain standards
Ensures productivity targets are achieved by monitoring actual performance against target and initiates corrective action to correct any negative variances.
Provides productivity data for departmental performance reports
Promotes continuous improvement activities including reviewing all suggestions made by team members. Coordinates resources for implementation.
Make recommendations for productivity and safety improvements to Operations Director. *Prepares / monitors and manages department budget
- Assists with capacity planning and press loading to meet future objectives
- Orders supplies and deals with all salesmen and subcontractors relating to department
- Ensures fairness to direct reports
- Provide employee coaching, development and training
- Develops and maintains peer relationships
- Effectively builds and fosters teamwork within the department *Promotes / recommends continuous improvement suggestions including environment, people, processes and equipment / machinery
- Conducts performance appraisals informally or formally as required
- Conducts employee meetings as required
- Follows and adheres to requirements of current customer quality and environmental management systems standards
- Keeps work area neat and clean
- Ensuring employees are trained or certified, as required
- Evaluating health and safety performance of team members
- Enforcing Health and Safety Policies and Procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation for Industrial Establishments and other relevant Codes and Standards
KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION
- Tool & Die Journeyman or Millwright or Post-Secondary Education in an Applicable Engineering Field
- Minimum 5 to 10 years progressive experience in a maintenance position within a heavy stamping automotive or Tool and Die industry with exposure to multiple press technologies, mechanical, hydraulic etc.
- Experience in medium to large scale project management to coordinate expansion plans and new equipment commissioning
- Must possess human relations skills and maturity of judgement
- Must possess time management, leadership, communication, organizational and presentation skills
