Position Overview :
Provides fitness programs and instruction to participants.
Responsibilities :
- Prepares and conducts fitness classes following required standards.
- Demonstrates and instructs group fitness classes; explains and demonstrates proper techniques; provides feedback to participants.
Modifies programs as needed to ensure inclusion of all participants.
- Prepares appropriate music and equipment.
- Completes room set-ups as required including lifting and moving mats, chairs, or any other program equipment.
- Monitors class participants and ensures safe practices.
- Integrates inclusion staff, private support workers, and volunteers into programs.
- Completes records and reports including class attendance and accident / incident reports.
- Ensures safe use, condition, and storage of equipment.
- Distributes applicable forms and program information (., course evaluation forms, general information, brochures).
- Adheres to policies and procedures established for City of Kitchener facilities.
- Reviews emergency procedures with participants; follows established procedures during emergencies.
- Responds to participants immediate concerns and / or needs and provides customer service.
- Acts as a liaison between the community centre and participants.
- Provides first aid as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements :
- Grade 12 Diploma.
- Certified Fitness Instructor (Can Fit Pro or equivalent) or Certified Wellness Instructor (., Pilates)
- 6 months of related experience.
- Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment (applicable to instructors of children and youth programs).
- Valid CPR Level C and EmergencyFirst Aid Certificate.
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
