As an expert within the organization, you will be able to collaborate in different ways to its success, for example :

  • Provide technical support to production in welding, brazing and heat treatment operations, and help with effective troubleshooting and resolution of production interruptions;
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department, Welding and Metallurgy in planning, executing, monitoring and reporting on the progress of projects;
  • Assist welders in various plants as needed as the primary point of contact;
  • Review and approve suppliers’ Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS);
  • Provide quality control support by investigating potential causes of welding issues;
  • Supervise and ensure the training and qualification of welders in accordance with ASME, military, PED and other codes and standards.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, welding or metallurgical engineering, or other related field;
  • 3 to 5 years of practical experience in the manufacturing of welding products;
  • Be a Canadian citizen and meet all Controlled Goods Program (CGP) requirements;
  • Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or in the process of becoming a member (a professional engineer registered in other Canadian provinces who is eligible for the OIQ will be considered);
  • Actual work experience or a solid understanding of various welding processes including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW, PAW;
  • Possess technical knowledge in welding, metallurgy, heat treatment and material specifications to support manufacturing operations;
  • Knowledge of welding and material codes such as ASME Sections III, VIII and IX, ASME B31.1, B31.3 and B16.34, military, ASTM and European welding standards;
  • Bilingualism (French and English), both written and oral.
