Qualifications and Experience

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience : Grade 12 graduation or equivalent;Experience working with youth;Post-secondary training in Exceptionalities Worker Program, Special Education, Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Services or Medical Services would be an asset;Experience integrating self-regulation and social-emotional care practices in the classroom is an asset;Experience working with Indigenous learners in a culturally diverse community is an asset.Experience with restorative justice in a classroom setting would be an asset. Experience working with neuro-diverse students will be an asset.NOTE : Candidates who have education, training and / or experience equivalent to the education criteria listed above will be equally considered.Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability Candidates should have and may be assessed on their : Ability to work effectively with students, teachers and parents;Willingness to learn Kaska; Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment;Ability to work as a member of a team;Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments;Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision;Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, establishing cooperative and authentic connections to support the best school experience possible;Desire and passion for developing and maintaining strong and respectful relationships and trust with students, their families, school staff, First Nation education workers, and the community as a whole.Conditions of Employment Security Clearance (Vulnerable Sector Check) prior to starting work;Standard First Aid Certificate or a willingness to complete within 3 months;Completion of the Educational Assistant Module by the end of the 2023 / 24 school year.
