Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Facility Engineer Technician conducts semi-skilled manual maintenance and inspection work performed on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system in various buildings operated by REAL.
The Facility Engineer Technician will work with considerable independence and must exercise discretion at times, as in the case of deciding whether to shut down a boiler during an emergency.
Unusual situations are referred to a supervisor, who also makes visual inspections of the incumbent’s regular work. Will be responsible for completing or overseeing a variety of assignments to carry out the renovation, and maintenance of buildings and facilities.

With buildings and systems that vary in ages from the 1950’s to 2017, our Facility Engineers get to put their skills to the test on a daily basis in a fast-paced environment working behinds the scenes of sports and entertainment for the community.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Maintains equipment and facilities by completing tasks including but not limited do repairs, installations, remodeling, inspections, keeping proper records, and reporting concerns.
- Ensure health and safety is made a priority by reporting all incidents and near misses, conducting hazards assessments, and ensuring equipment and facilities is up to regulation and legislated standards.
- May be asked on a regular basis to perform work not directly related to the role. For example, electrician’s helper.
- Performing other duties as allocated.
Position : Full Time
Hours : Monday - Friday : 8 : 00am - 4 : 30pm
Requirements
WHAT IT TAKES

- Grade 12 education
- Valid Driver’s License must be held and maintained for this position.
- Demonstrated experience in building, maintenance, and repair work.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change to provide quality work.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
Must possess the following two (2) tickets
- 5th class power engineering certificate
- Refrigeration engineers’ certificate
Knowledge of :
- Operations, services, and activities of a facility maintenance program
- Facility engineering principles and practices.
- The standards, codes, and regulations pertaining to construction and maintenance of facilities and structures.
- Building construction and operations processes and procedures, equipment, tools, materials, and their application
- Inspection and investigation techniques
- Must be available to work, days, evenings, and weekends depending on operational needs.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.
- Note that this position is an in-scope position under the RWDSU Collective Agreement.
