Laboratory Technician

Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for providing accurate coal preparation and assay testing to ensure customer satisfaction and mining performance for multiple sites in our operations.
To be successful, we are looking for a self-motivated team player who can engage with multiple partners across our site with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
An ability to multi-task, remain organized, prioritize competing demands, and manage the handling of samples up to 25kg to keep the process moving efficiently is vital in this role.
You will have the chance to work with partners from many different departments and mine sites, giving you exposure to the different processes involved in our operations.

Responsibilities :
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Prepare and process daily composite and customer samples in a safe and efficient manner
- Analyze coal utilizing specific procedures that incorporate ASTM and ISO standards such as, dilatation, fluidity, phosphorus, Sulphur, alkali extraction, TSS, proximate analysis, FSI, and screening
- Maintain technical updates, keeping the coal laboratory procedures current
- Assist with train reports and maintain the assay program
- Calibrate various pieces of lab equipment and keep track of calibration dates, order parts, and put in work orders for repair
Qualifications :
- Technical diploma or high school degree with related experience
- Minimum one year of experience with coal analysis or other demonstrated laboratory experience is an asset
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Valid Class 5 Drivers' License
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite®, particularly Excel and Word

Salary Range : $80,000 - $99,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
