Role Purpose : The main function of the Risk Manager is to provide independent second line challenge and oversight. The candidate will have overall responsibility for the risk and control environment of EBC and CXI.
The candidate will work closely with the Senior Risk Manager and Chief Risk Officer to implement the Risk Management Framework of EBC, and further build the risk culture of EBC and CXI.
Essential Functions : Risk Management of CXI and EBC, as directed by the CRO. The responsibilities and allocation of time will roughly be 50% credit risk & adjudication and 50% operational risk.
The latter includes risks like 3rd party risk, fraud risk, process risk, security and business continuity risk. Implementation and maintenance of the risk management framework, i.
e. embedding the risk culture and risk principles, developing and maintaining policies and procedures, data aggregation and preparation of monthly and ad hoc risk reporting, applying the risk management program, identifying emerging risks, and establishing risk appetite statements.
Act as a liaison between the first line of defence (the Business) and Risk Management; Adjudication of short term credit settlement limits, forward exposure limits with our D&B system and review of financial statements, support credit risk reporting.
Change management and risk assessments are a significant part of the role. Act as a representative in the second line of defense, with the responsibility and authority to challenge the first line regarding self-assessments and the application of risk management practices, and to report independent risk and control assessments to appropriate levels of governance and escalation.
Support audit groups including Internal Audit in planning and completing their audit engagements; Perform other duties as may be required of the position from time to time, as may be periodically requested by the CRO.
