The Role
This is a full-time, permanent position. The Energy Transition Consultant will take on a leadership role within projects.
They will advise on approach for technical work, analyze complex datasets and manage large models, communicate technical content to clients and their stakeholders, coach junior consultants, and apply industry and subject matter expertise to a variety of issues related to the energy transition.
Specific job responsibilities may include :
- Applying your knowledge of how energy is used in the buildings, industry, and transportation sectors, and / or developing and running large quantitative models to deriving insights from large, imperfect datasets.
- Analyzing results and communicate them effectively to clients and project stakeholders
- Conducting quality control for modelling outputs and written reports
- Mentoring junior staff to develop their technical competencies
- Managing project teams of 1-3 analysts
- Supporting managers of large project teams by managing project work packages and ensuring their successful integration.
- Working with clients to scope tasks, working with project teams to define approaches to executing project work
The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, qualifications, and qualities :
- A degree in Engineering, Data Science, Policy, Economics, or similar.
- 5 or more years of experience in a technical role, ideally in energy system planning / forecasting or demand side management.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Comfortable working with large datasets and conducting quantitative analysis, including :
- Advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R
- Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information in written and oral formats to both clients and staff.
- A self-starter and can work independently.
Experience in a consulting role, experience as a project manager, and experience supervising / coaching junior staff will be considered assets.
Candidates must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
The anticipated salary band for this position is $100,000 to $130,000 with flexibility based on experience. Preferred work locations are Ottawa, Toronto, or Vancouver but we will consider applicants based in other Canadian locations.
The anticipated start date is January 6, 2025.
