Position Description :
Early Learning Assistants are responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a licensed child care program that meets the developmental needs of children 4 - 12 years of age, while adhering to the YMCA HBB policies and procedures, quality standards, as well as the regulations of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
Early Learning Assistants are responsible for the supervision of children at all times during program to ensure the health and safety needs of all are met. Since programs may take place in a shared space, incumbents must have excellent interpersonal skills in order to maintain and foster strong and positive relationships with school personnel, parents and other educators to promote the delivery of high quality child care services within the community.

Completion of High School education or equivalent.
A minimum of 6 months’ experience working with children, obtained through paid work experience, volunteering, placements, or a combination of the above.
Must be familiar with the developmental needs of children ranging from ages 0 to 12 years.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport with children, families, staff / volunteers, and community partners.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Working Computer knowledge.
18 years of age or older.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certification (Level C).
Current and satisfactory Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
