We’re hiring a General Manager based in our Ready-Mix division in Burnaby, BC. If you bring strategic thinking, financial acumen, and a passion for leading people, we want to hear from you!
You will be responsible for managing and directing our operations in the lower mainland of British Columbia. With your combination of technical expertise, leadership qualities, and business acumen, you will join a growing organization focused on supporting future community prosperity. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will showcase your professional aptitude while developing meaningful relationships across BURNCO.
What you will be doing
- Execute strategies developed with the COO and Executive Team within the BURNCO Strategic Plan
- Lead policy, cultural, and organizational change to drive team progress
- Pursue business growth and vertical integration opportunities in BC
- Build relationships with the local union and lead collective bargaining processes
- Promote and advance our safety culture across operations; proactively address safety and environmental concerns
- Manage risks related to safety, quality, and insurance
- Provide leadership and direction for Ready Mix operations to achieve and exceed company performance goals
- Develop, approve, and execute budgets and forecasts
- Monitor operational performance to meet or exceed targets
- Collaborate with peers to implement best practices and operational benchmarks
- Drive cultural development to support our work environment
- Recruit, organize, and develop employees to build motivation and performance excellence
- Build leadership pipelines and create growth opportunities for emerging leaders
- Maximize profitability and long-term company value
- Develop and maintain strong internal and external business relationships
- Oversee maintenance, replacement, and readiness of company assets
- Lead the adoption and integration of technology and automation
What we would like from you
A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field10 years of experience in the construction materials industry, with 5 years in a leadership roleDemonstrated commitment to safety and environmental excellence with experience leading related programs and policiesStrong financial and business acumen with proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysisExceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and inspire teamsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilities to build strong relationships with employees, customers, and stakeholdersDemonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to think strategically and execute tacticallyDeep understanding of the construction materials industry, including market trends, customer needs, and regulatory requirementsExperience with labour relations and working in a multi-union environment considered an assetLocation and other key details :
This is a full-time permanent position based out of our Burnaby OfficeThe hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with occasional additional hours as requiredRegular travel to our Langley siteSalary Range : $185,000 - $195,000
