The Practice Project Manager will assist with the continual improvement and implementation of a “best in class” Construction and Contract Management (CCM) Practice. You will help achieve this using change management strategies to effectively communicate and implement these changes. This role works collaboratively with stakeholders and leaders across the company to meet our business objectives, corporate standards, and policies. The CCM Practice documents our procedures, practices, and processes on how we consistently deliver capital projects within Project Delivery. These practices apply to the full project life-cycle from project release to project close-out. This position plays a key role in providing technical direction and professional support to Capital Construction personnel, ensuring that members are aware of and understand the policies and procedures. This role will also oversee the onboarding program and development of training content for Capital Construction members and future recruitment.
What you will be doing
- Assists in developing new and revising existing CCM practices and written procedures.
- Facilitate communication, collaboration, and decision-making among project team members and stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop new contract languages and templates.
- Participate in short term and intermediate department and strategic planning activities.
- Support in auditing project deliverables against CCM Practice and develop an action plan for identified deficiencies.
- Assist in proactively identifying and developing lessons learned, understand implementation challenges and success factors, and recommend changes to ensure continuous improvement and streamlining of the CCM Practice.
- Collaborate with different departments to organize job-specific training sessions for new hires and existing employees within Capital Construction.
- Help develop and deliver training to Capital Construction and business partners throughout the province on CCM Practices.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to develop skills and knowledge within the Capital Construction team.
- Plan, direct, and report on business process change or similar project activities by consistently monitoring project benefits, resources and status and creating documents such as project plans, action logs, communication plans, status reports and post implementation reviews so that the project is implemented as planned.
- Develop project plans and risk management plans for business process change or similar projects by identifying, analyzing, and monitoring risks for effective risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Complete project management activities including scoping, planning, managing, monitoring, and reporting on project tasks by using advanced skills in Microsoft Office as well as project management programs to fulfill the company’s business needs.
- Maintain meaningful relationships with stakeholders through regular reporting and communication using excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills enabling timely progression of projects.
- Establish standards for implementation and monitoring using excellent analytical skills and a comprehensive knowledge of project management practices and procedures to optimize project resources
What you must have
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Economics or related disciplineProject Management Professional (PMP®) designation, preferredProgram Management experience, an assetAdvanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spokenUniversity degree or technical diploma in business, engineering, law, or a related discipline. Extensive on-the-job experience & training, without a formal degree or diploma, will be considered.Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in business analysis, process improvement, project management, stakeholder engagement or facilitation, preferably in an electric utility or similar environment.Demonstrated knowledge and results in developing and implementing new processes and procedures across an organization.Proven team player and relationship-builder with strong analytical, negotiation and communications skills with the ability to take ownership of issues, initiate actions and make effective decisions.Excellent written and verbal communications skills; relationship management; collaboration and interpersonal skillsEffective presentation skills, including the ability to convey complex technical issues to diverse audiencesExcellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs – Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.Experience in project management and task coordination. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset.Salary / Rate Range : $81.00 - $100.00 per hour
