Ciena is seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Line Manager (PLM) to join our team, focusing on Network Planning Applications, including our market-leading Intelligent Applications suite.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in optical and IP technologies, with a passion for driving product strategy and development in the realm of network planning and optimization.

In this role, the focus will be on simplifying the engineering, deployment, and optimization of Ciena's comprehensive hardware portfolio, supporting the needs of Ciena's customers, Services teams, and pre-Sales workflows.

As a PLM, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our network planning applications streamline and enhance the processes involved in selecting, deploying, and managing Ciena's hardware solutions.

Your efforts will directly contribute to making our products more accessible and effective for our customers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Define and prioritize product requirements based on market analysis, customer feedback, and technological trends.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap for network planning applications, aligning with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, sales, marketing, and support teams to ensure successful product launches and market adoption.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to identify market trends, opportunities, and threats.
  • Engage with customers and partners to gather insights, validate product concepts, and identify new opportunities for innovation.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to sales teams, including product training and customer presentations.
  • Monitor and analyze product performance metrics, making data-driven decisions to enhance product features and user experience.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management or technical roles within the networking industry, with a strong focus on optical and IP technologies.
  • Proven track record of working in customer-facing roles, demonstrating an ability to effectively engage with and understand customer needs, leading to the development and delivery of solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Deep understanding of network planning processes and tools, including capacity planning, network design, and optimization, with a keen eye for simplifying complex engineering tasks.
  • Experience with software development practices and a history of working successfully with agile development teams to bring products from concept to market.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • A customer-centric approach to product management, emphasizing the importance of listening to and valuing customer feedback in the development of products and services.
  • Strategic thinker with a proven ability to identify market opportunities, define product strategies, and execute plans that drive customer satisfaction and business success.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment and manage multiple priorities effectively, while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual pay range for this position is $109,600 - $175,200 CAD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.

Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
