Richards-Wilcox Canada is currently looking for a Group Leader within our Residential Assembly department to join our team.  You will be working at our headquarters located at 5100 Timberlea Blvd, Mississauga, Ontario, L4W 2S5.

This is a permanent, full-time position, based on 40 hours per week.  Further information respecting the position can be found below.

Position

As a Group Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the assembly process for our Residential Door department, supervising its staff, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.

Duties will include but are not limited to the following :

  • Overseeing residential door assembly process, including supervising staff, ensuring orders are produced correctly and meet quality standards, and troubleshooting any issues that may present on the assembly line.
  • Setting daily work schedules for staff, assigning duties, monitoring workloads, and coordinating activities with other departments to ensure production and shipping schedules are met.
  • Overseeing staff performance to ensure company procedures are followed and quality standards are met, and completing any corrective actions as required.
  • Training new, temporary, or transferred employees, as well as providing instructions on new policies and / or procedures to existing staff.
  • Ensuring all materials required in the assembly process are on hand at each shift, requisitioning supplies from the Purchasing department, and inspecting and verifying accuracy of supply deliveries.
  • Acting as a Safety Leader for the team, including ensuring staff are wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, completing routine health and safety inspections, and overseeing ongoing compliance with safety standards and procedures, and immediately addressing any violations or hazards.
  • Preparing daily reports, including Labour Reports that track employee attendance, as well as Production Reports that which track outcomes against KPIs, and distributing findings to management teams.
  • Leading any departmental or organizational projects or programs.
  • If and when required, providing hands-on assistance with certain assembly tasks, such as setting up work areas, sorting materials, and stacking and moving bundles.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who meet the following minimum requirements :

  • Successful completion of a high school diploma.
  • At least 1 year experience working as a residential door fabricator or assembler within the garage door industry, with a thorough understanding of sectional door configurations and structures.
  • At least 6 months experience leading and managing a team.
  • Proven ability to read and understand drawings and accurately complete work from these drawings.
  • Proven ability to comply with quality control, and health and safety standards and procedures.
  • Prior experience operating power tools in a safe manner.
  • Ability to learn new procedures in a short time and train other staff on new procedures.
  • Ability to identify deficiencies in products in a non-destructive manner.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Proficient using MS Excel and JD Edwards.
  • Willing and able to work shifts.
  • Compensation

    We offer a generous compensation package, which includes :

  • Wage : $30.00 per hour, based on 40 hours of work per week (overtime paid after 40 hours per week - $45.00 per hour on weekdays or Saturdays, and $60.00 per hour on Sundays).
  • Vacation : 10 paid days per year.
  • Benefits : extended medical, dental, long-term disability, and life insurance. After 1 year of service, eligible for participation in our company’s profit sharing plan.
  • Other : eligible for incremental salary increases in accordance with standard company policies.
