Responsibilities
Responsible for working safely in accordance with OHS regulations and Company safety policies and procedures; reporting any hazards;
using all Company approved and prescribed safety equipment
Work under the guidance and supervision of the Journeyman skilled trades team to perform a variety of preventative maintenance tasks ;
working toward completing hours for all competency skill sets as defined by the Ontario College of Trades
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance of production machinery to optimize safety, machine efficiencies and equipment reliability
- Application of lubricants used in the preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment
- Rigging and hoisting machinery and equipment installation, alignment and maintenance ; inspect rigging and hoisting equipment
- Pump and valve installation, repair, inspection and maintenance
- Use and interpret engineering, machine and component drawings, schematics and symbols; use of technical and manufacturers’ manuals
- Use a variety of hand and power tools for fastening, cutting and measurement
- Minor Troubleshooting of equipment
- Ordering maintenance supplies / parts
- Following preventative maintenance program for equipment & facility
- Ensure company safety policies are adhered to and safe work habits are utilized by all department personnel and visitors.
- Follow housekeeping standards and adherence to food safety and environmental policies, clean site after completing repairs and return tools / parts to the maintenance shop
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safety of maintenance shop and facility
- Operation of forklift (experience and / or forklift operator certificate an advantage)
- Join the team to perform daily preventative maintenance tasks on plant equipment
- Provide Support on complex projects as needed
- Provide support in completing maintenance requisitions from other departments as needed
- Maintain a safe working environment as the top priority while communicating and addressing safety concerns in a timely manner
- Provide frequent communication, feedback and information flow to all stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- As a prerequisite, applicants must be currently registered in the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433A apprenticeships program (2nd or 3rd level) with the Ontario College of Trades
- Post-secondary education in a Millwright or Mechanical Technician program
- Industrial Maintenance : 1 year (preferred)
